One Taiwanese man died and two others were injured in an accident Thursday on the set of American director Martin Scorsese's (SCORSEZI) new film "Silence" in Taipei.
The three Taiwanese workers were rushed to the hospital after temporary scaffolding collapsed on them at the film set. One of the workers was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The film crew expressed their “shock and sorrow” when they learned about the accident. A spokesperson for the film said in a statement that the production crew had found that an existing structure on the set was unsafe, and a third-party contractor was hired to remedy the problem. The statement also said “everyone is in shock and sorrow and expressed their deepest concern and sympathy to the families of the individual who died and those who were injured”.
Scorsese is currently in Taiwan to shoot the historical drama. The filming was expected to begin Thursday or Friday.
