The tenth round of negotiations for a trade in goods agreement between Taiwan and China has been set for after the Lunar New Year holidays.
Deputy Economics Minister Cho Shih-chao made the comments Thursday at the seventh meeting of the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Committee.
In a press conference held after the meeting, Cho said that Taiwan and China agreed to hold the tenth round of talks for a trade in goods agreement. He also said the two sides will set up a work group to promote cooperation of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is the first time since January 2011 that a new work group has been set up under the committee. The other six work groups cover areas such as trade in services, investment, dispute resolution, and customs cooperation. Cho said the set up of a work group dedicated to SMEs shows the determination to allow SMEs to benefit from trade agreements between Taiwan and China.
