Ma calls for early passage of pact despite Wang's pledge
Wang speaks at legislature on Sunday

President Ma Ying-jeou is calling on the legislature to quickly pass the trade in services agreement with China… that’s despite a pledge from Legislature President Wang Jin-pyng to first work on legislation that would govern the passage of such pacts with China.

In a statement on Sunday, the presidential office said that Ma did not know in advance that Wang was planning to visit the legislature. However, the statement was supportive of Wang’s calls for the students to end their occupation.

As for how the legislature should deal with the trade in services agreement, the presidential office said it supported the ruling party’s standpoint on that issue.
