Shares in Taiwan moved higher Wednesday to close above the 9,500-point mark as investors reacted positively to news that stock prices will soon be allowed to fluctuate by 10 percent in a single day, up from 7 percent at present.
Market sentiment also improved in the wake of a rally on Wall Street overnight that was boosted by reduced worries over the debt problems in the eurozone on hopes that Greece will reach a deal on restructuring its debt.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed up 65.19 points, or 0.68 percent, at 9,513.92.
