The Kaohsiung City Government officially unveiled its newest branch, the Youth Bureau, on Tuesday.
The bureau aims to promote youth development. The bureau has dedicated departments that help young people plan their careers. It also provides guidance and resources to those who try to start their own businesses.
The bureau is a new platform for youth in Kaohsiung to express their ideas to the city government. The goal is for officials to listen more to the city’s youth.
Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu said at the opening ceremony that he hopes the new bureau would help attract more local talent to work in Kaohsiung instead of moving up north to seek other opportunities. Retaining young talent was one of Han’s campaign promises when he ran for mayor in 2018.
