Taiwan is hoping to see a 20% increase in the number of Indian tourists arrivals next year. That’s according to Tourism Bureau official Lin Hsin-jen.
Lin was speaking at the Tourism Bureau’s Mumbai office Wednesday during a celebration held to mark one year since the office opened.
Lin said that the Tourism Bureau has invested around US$1 million in encouraging Indian tourists to visit Taiwan. The result was a 20% increase in Indian tourist arrivals during the first quarter of this year. Though troubles in the Indian tourism sector during the second quarter saw numbers fall, they have since begun to recover.
To encourage a further 20% increase next year, the Tourism Bureau is teaming up with airlines to offer combo trips that take in Taiwan along with Hong Kong or Singapore. The bureau will also work with Indian travel service providers and Taiwanese brands to provide special offers for Indian travelers.
