Taiwan’s top cloud computing service, TWCC, has officially begun commercial operations.
The cloud computing platform is powered by Taiwania 2, a super computer co-developed by top computing research teams in Taiwan. Since it began its trial run in May, the CPS cores behind the platform have operated for a combined 8 million hours, and the platform has taken part in over 150 projects in different fields.
Senior officials from the National Applied Research Laboratories say that during its trial run, TWCC reduced image processing time at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital by more than 80%. In another case, the cloud computer was able to improve the learning efficiency of an AI program 500 fold.
The officials say that the platform will begin offering its services to the public this month at a price that’s the lowest among its global peers. The officials say that the new platform’s capabilities and competitive pricing will allow it to help many industries improve their productivity.
