Dadu Mountain in central Taiwan is well-loved for the spectacular nighttime views of the city of Taichung it has to offer. However, the number of nighttime visitors sitting close to cliff edges has raised safety concerns.

Tourists often gather at the Wanggaoliao cliff on central Taiwan’s Dadu Mountain to see the lights of Taichung from above. Recent years have seen a growing number of people coming up the mountain at night for a look at the city down below.

However, some visitors get a bit too close to cliff’s edge. Some even sit right on the guard rails. This has brought concern both from other visitors and from the local government. It’s a concern that is well-founded, too- one tourist has already fallen off the cliff.

A Taichung City official said that the government has not put a warning sign in place, and that it will instead dispatch workers to warn tourists to keep a safe distance from the ledge.
