Premier Su Tseng-chang says that Taiwan welcomes cross-strait cultural exchanges despite ongoing cross-strait tensions. Su was speaking Wednesday about performances by the China Coal Mine Art Troupe scheduled to take place across Taiwan in November.

The troupe is commissioned by an organization affiliated with the Chinese government. It is set to tour several of Taiwan’s counties, all of them administered by the opposition KMT. The piece the troupe is set to perform is entitled “The Love of a Chinese Family, a Celebration of Taiwan”, and will be open to the public free of charge.

Though the premier said that the troupe is welcome in Taiwan, he also said that the government will intervene if the performances become political in nature.
