The minimum wage for full-time employees in Taiwan will see a slight increase starting in 2020. That’s the word from the labor ministry on Tuesday.

The current minimum monthly wage in Taiwan stands at NT$23,100 (US$761). The ministry said the number will increase to NT$23,800 (US$784) starting next year. The hourly rate, said the ministry, will grow from NT$150 to NT$158 (US$5.21) .

The ministry said that the minimum wage aims to guarantee a certain standard of living and purchasing power for all employees. The ministry calls on all employers to adjust their wages next year according to the new standards.
