The Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau has unveiled a new intelligent disaster warning system.
The park’s general director, Dr. Hsu Maw-shin, said that the new system aims to better warn the public of natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. He said that researchers have taken advantage of new technologies such as artificial intelligence in building the new system.
The system includes camera drones that are deployed to monitor areas prone to flooding and earthquakes. Software engineers have also set up an account on the popular message app Line that is powered by artificial intelligence and can update the public on ongoing hazards.
Hsu said that new system is capable of better measuring the risk posed by an oncoming disaster, allowing people to take appropriate precautionary measures.
