NGO Taiwan Citizen Front has announced a platform of 14 policies it hopes Taiwan’s political parties will promote in the 2020 election.
The NGO held a press conference Thursday to unveil its proposals. Four of the proposals are concerned with Chinese threats to Taiwan’s democracy.
The group is calling on political parties to reject a peace agreement premised on unification with China. It is also calling for resistance against Chinese political propaganda, an amendment to Taiwan’s nationality law defining Taiwanese identity, and a new constitution free of links to China.
The group is planning three public hearings over the next three weeks to explain its proposals and invite discussion about them. It is also calling on all political parties to respond to its proposals.
