Taiwan’s baseball team lost to Mexico on Monday in the second round of the 2019 WBSC Premier12 Tournament. The loss has put the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in jeopardy.

In order to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Taiwan’s team will need to advance to the next round with a better record than South Korea and Australia. The loss on Monday puts the team’s chances on the line, and it must win all its games to stay in the running for a spot in the 2020 games.
Taiwan’s next game will pit it against baseball rivals South Korea. The game is slated for Tuesday.
