A local NGO focused on the transition to clean energy has criticized a government plan to reduce the usage of smaller solar panels in 2020.
Smaller solar panels are those that generate 20 kilowatts of power. The plan will reduce the proportion of small panels to be used in solar power installations next year.
During a press conference on Wednesday, members of the NGO said that this reduction means that more people will have to pay for medium and large rooftop solar panels, making the overall transition to green energy slower and more costly. They have called on the economics ministry to reconsider the plan and to install more low cost panels.
