DPP chair urges caution despite poll showing growing support
DPP Chair Cho Jung-tai says that his party needs to be careful as the 2020 election approaches.

A leading official in President Tsai Ing-wen’s reelection campaign says that a new internal poll puts her DPP 5-6% ahead of the rival KMT in terms of popular support. This ends a long period in which polls showed greater support for the KMT.

However, DPP Chair Cho Jung-tai says that the party needs to be careful as the 2020 election approaches. On Wednesday, Cho confirmed that a poll has shown support for his party ahead of support for the KMT. But he called on party members not to make a show of this poll result.

He said the party must take care not to make mistakes, and that it should take even more care when its opponents make mistakes. He said the DPP must demonstrate to voters that it is a party of stability.
