Taiwanese Major League Baseball pitcher Chen Wei-yin has returned to Taiwan after becoming a free agent last week.
At a press conference on Wednesday, he spoke about his plans for the future. He said he is not ready to give up yet.
After some thinking, Chen said he thanked the Miami Marlins for letting him go.
The Taiwanese lefty had signed with the team with a US$80 million contract. It was the biggest contract obtained by a pitcher on the team or by a professional ethnic Chinese athlete. However, Chen was unable to meet his obligations, as an elbow injury limited him to only 22 starts in 2016 and nine in 2017.
