Lin is a senior citizen who has been taking extended treks around Taiwan to make it a cleaner place. He’s spent years on trash-collecting expeditions, with a mission to leave Taiwan a greener place than he found it.
All this is Lin’s way of protecting the environment and showing love for the country.
Meet Lin Ming-teh. This 73-year-old man pushes his trash cart across Taiwan, picking up whatever litter he can find along the way.
He walks long distances, collecting cigarette butts, plastic bags, and juice containers, and even more exotic trash like an old mechanical watch. He kept the watch, by the way- after six months, no one had come to the local police station to claim it.
But this whole operation isn’t about scavenging. Lin says it’s important to have respect for the earth and to show our appreciation to it, because our planet nurtures all life.
Despite his age, Lin is now on his tenth trash-collecting expedition. What is it that keeps him going? Lin says that the sight of an old man like him picking up trash will make those who litter feel ashamed.
