Germany’s second-largest electricity producer, RWE, is considering entering the Taiwan market as part of its plans to expand its presence in Asia. The company is also the world’s second-largest offshore wind farm operator.

RWE aims to build more offshore wind farms in Asia. The company has already entered partnerships with Japan. It is now interested in Taiwan, as well as South Korea and India.

Taiwan inaugurated its first wind farm in Miaoli County earlier this month. President Tsai Ing-wen has set the goal of supplying 20 percent of Taiwan’s energy needs from renewable energy sources by 2025.
