US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce Ian Steff is visiting Taiwan. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou says Steff came to Taiwan twice in 2018. She says that Steff is friendly with Taiwan, and has supported the strengthening of economic ties between Taiwan and the US.
The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) says that the purpose of Steff’s trip is to forge more economic ties with Taiwan. He will also call on private enterprises to discuss the Select USA Investment Summit.
Ou says that Taiwan welcomes high-level visits from the United States, and hopes to deepen bilateral trade and investment.
