Japanese police and the Japan Coast Guard have arrested a group of eight drug traffickers on an incoming boat. Over half their number are Taiwanese nationals.
Japanese authorities intercepted the vessel near the country’s Kumamoto Prefecture. On board, they found 600 kilograms of amphetamines. It is the largest ever drug bust in the area.
Japanese police believe the drugs came through a trafficking channel in Taiwan. They have not rule out the possible involvement of an international drug cartel.
