Taiwan's star javelin thrower, Cheng Chao-tsun, has the nickname The Golden Arm. He's one of the athletes highlighted on the 2020 Air Force calendar. He is pictured in August at the height of the 2020 the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Cheng broke the Asian record for the javelin throw at 91.36 meters in 2017 at the Taipei Universiade. He is the first Asian athlete to throw the javelin over 90 meters. His record is also ranked 12th in the global history of the sport.
After competing in the Universiade, he went to serve in the army. There his most proud achievement was breaking former Major League Baseball pitcher Wang Chien-ming's record for the grenade throw. Wang's throw was 71 meters while Cheng set a new record at 80 meters.
The 26-year old is of Hakka descent and was born in Taoyuan. Cheng will be one of Taiwan's athletes to watch at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
