The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has shared Taiwan’s experiences with climate change with the international community. That was on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC), which concluded in Spain on Sunday.
Although Taiwan was barred from participating in the global event due to pressure from China, the government was able to share Taiwan’s experience on the sidelines.
An EPA official said Monday that the government held 42 exchanges with other countries in the areas of renewable energy, CO2 reduction and recycling. Taiwanese NGOs also held 13 meetings, demonstrating the country’s soft power.
At the event, 13 allies spoke or wrote in favor of Taiwan’s bid to join the international organization. They included: Tuvalu, the Marshall Islands, Palau, Nauru, Belize, Haiti, Honduras, Paraguay, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, eSwatni and Guatemala.
