Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je stepped into a tub on Monday… he didn’t find himself in hot water, though! It was to promote an invention that enables the elderly to safely get in and out of a bathtub. The demonstration took place during a signing ceremony at Kai Nan Vocational School. It was for a city-led plan that brings together students and care facilities to invent new safety devices that can enable the elderly to use the bathroom.
In a speech, Ko said that Taiwan must deal with a quickly aging population. He said that academics, industry, the government and private entities must work together to find the best safety devices. Ko told the students that everyone can become a pioneer. The mayor said that nobody knows what the future brings so everyone should keep on working hard in order to move forward together.
