The Hakka Affairs Council is hosting an outdoor photography exhibit in hopes of promoting Hakka culture. Photographers from all over the world have been invited to share captured scenes taken along a highway that connects many of Taiwan’s Hakka communities.
The Hakka Affairs Council is holding an outdoor photography exhibit to introduce Taiwan’s Provincial Highway 3. The highway played an important role in connecting several of Taiwan’s Hakka communities. The event is being held outdoors at the 228 Peace Memorial Park in Taipei.
The council invited 22 local and foreign photographers to showcase their work. Many of the pictures include scenery from Hakka villages along the highway. The photographers hail from France, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. From their photographs, you can tell the foreign cameramen are more curious about Hakka people’s everyday lives. Local photographers, on the other hand, seem to prefer documenting prominent Hakka figures who work hard to keep traditional practices alive.
