The Rakuten Monkeys, a team in Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League, has offered a first-look at their new coaching staff roster. Japan’s Rakuten Inc. bought the baseball team from Taiwan-based Lamigo in early September of 2019, making it the first Taiwanese team under foreign ownership.

The team changed ownership in September of 2019, and fans have since been eager to hear about any changes in players or staff. Tseng Hao-chu, the team’s hitting coach since 2015, has been promoted to head coach.
Tseng says he will retain the positive coaching philosophy that his predecessor instilled in the team. Tseng says he wants to strengthen the team’s bench and minor league players in order to boost competitiveness.
Another notable member of the new coaching staff is Lin Ying-Chieh, who will oversee the team’s bullpen. Ten years ago, Lin pitched for the Rakuten-owned Tohoku Golden Eagles in the Japanese professional baseball league.
