The EPA is reminding businesses and establishments that there’s a new ban on disposable tableware. The ban is effective as of January 1, 2020.
The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) announced the ban earlier in August, which aims to reduce plastic waste. The ban applies to a range of public establishments across eight municipalities, including Taipei, Taichung, and off-shore Penghu County.
Restaurants, convenience stores, fast food chains, department stores, supermarkets, schools, and certain public institutions, such as hospitals, are all required to comply with the new policy.
