The foreign ministry says the United States is concerned about foreign forces’ infiltrating Taiwan. That’s the word from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou on Thursday.
The legislature passed an anti-infiltration bill on Tuesday to curb Chinese influence on Taiwan’s politics and elections.
Ou called the legislation a victory for Taiwan’s democracy. She said Taiwan’s representative office in Washington will explain the bill to the Trump administration.
On Wednesday, Taiwan’s representative to the US, Stanley Kao, said at a flag-raising ceremony in DC that his office will promote the bill to the international community.
Kao said the anti-infiltration bill was written into law due to concerns over Taiwan’s national security.
