Seasoned Taiwanese opera performer Wong Jen-hsin is one of six artists being recognized by the culture ministry for their contributions towards cultural preservation.
The ministry made the announcement in an official press release on Wednesday.
Taiwanese opera is a traditional dramatic form performed in the Taiwanese Hokkien language. Wong has been performing Taiwanese opera for decades. She heads the Holo Opera Troupe, which has performed on stages across Taiwan as well as on many televised programs.
