The National Central Library has launched its first Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies in the Middle East.
Since 2012, the library has been establishing these centers at universities and research institutes around the world. These centers aim to encourage academic exchanges and promote Taiwan’s contributions in the field of Chinese studies. The library donates books regularly to each of its overseas centers.
For its first Middle Eastern center, the library is partnering with Israel’s Tel Aviv University. The library’s directors traveled to Israel to sign a cooperation agreement with the university and attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the center.
The library donated 214 paper and digital volumes for the center’s first installment of books. It plans to provide additional books in two years’ time along with access to a digital collection and a database. Under its cooperation agreement with Tel Aviv University, the library will also organize lectures, symposia, and exhibits at the center.
