Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has taken part in four-way talks on cooperation between Taiwan, the US, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Both Guatemala and Honduras are diplomatic allies of Taiwan in Central America.
The talks took place Tuesday in Guatemala, just prior to the inauguration of new Guatemalan President Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei.
In a tweet, the foreign minister wrote that the meeting had focused on encouraging regional cooperation and development. During the meeting, he and representatives of the US, Guatemala, and Honduras also discussed cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and the development of basic infrastructure.
