VIDEO: Teen Diplomatic Envoys will head to Indonesia and New Zealand
Taiwan's Teen Diplomatic Envoys will be sent to Indonesia and New Zealand over their winter break!

The foreign ministry’s Teen Diplomatic Envoy program is a chance for young Taiwanese to reach out and connect with their peers from other countries. This year, the foreign ministry is sending teen envoys to Indonesia and New Zealand.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou stands with a group of high school students who have been chosen to serve as Taiwan’s Teen Diplomatic Envoys. These talented students will be sent to Indonesia and New Zealand -- two of the countries targeted by President Tsai Ing-wen’s New Southbound Policy.

During their time abroad, the students will visit local government offices, international organizations, think tanks and non-governmental organizations. They’ll also interact with students from the target countries.

Ou says that the Teen Diplomatic Envoy program is in its 18th year. To date, more than 9,800 students from 2,400 schools have participated.

Representatives from the Indonesian and New Zealand offices in Taipei were also present at the appointment ceremony. They words of welcomed the students to visit their respective countries.
