President Tsai Ing-wen called on the public to remain calm and vigilant in the face of the recent novel coronavirus outbreak, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Tsai was speaking in Central Taiwan’s Nantou County during a Lunar New Year event on Monday morning.
The president said that the government stands ready to respond to the outbreak. She said government prevention efforts continue around the clock. Tsai said that the public should not panic nor overreact and reminded everyone to practice good hygiene. She said that everyone should wash their hands frequently and take their temperature regularly.
