China is reporting official coronavirus figures of 4515 cases, 976 severe cases and 106 deaths in China. Those were the latest numbers from China’s Health Commission website at the end of Monday, January 27.
As of 12 am on January 28, there were 1,771 new cases in China’s 30 provinces including 515 new severe cases. There were 26 new fatalities including 24 in Hubei Province, one in Beijing and one in Hainan. Nine patients have been healed and discharged from the hospital bringing the total to 60 patients who have been healed since the outbreak began. There are also 6,973 suspected cases of the disease and 44,132 patients under observation in the hospital.
In addition to these cases in mainland China, there are 8 cases in Hong Kong and 7 in Macau.
China has extended the Lunar New Year holiday to February 2 as a measure to help contain the nationwide outbreak. The holiday started on January 24 and was originally scheduled to end on January 30.
Universities, primary and middle schools and kindergartens across the country will postpone the opening of the spring semester until further notice.
