The Lunar New Year holiday is over, and it’s back to work. Psychiatrist Shih Chia-tso has offered some tips about how to handle those post-holiday blues.
Having a one-week holiday is great, but so much time off can make it hard to get back into a normal routine once vacation time is over.
Psychiatrist Shih Chia-tso says people having a hard time getting back to normal are not alone. Some of her patients report dizziness, headaches, stomachaches, or diarrhea as they struggle to readjust. Mentally, they feel sluggish and might be late for work because of anxiety and poor sleep quality.
Shih says it’s important to start mental preparation for a return to the daily grind before the holiday ends. She suggests those having a hard time coping try doing some household chores. She also says not to stay up late.
Lastly, for those who can just get out of the holiday spirit, she says it might be a good idea to bring in New Year decorations to work for a bit of festive cheer.
