Restaurant and dining hall owners in central Taiwan’s Miaoli City say that they have had hundreds of bookings canceled in February amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
The outbreak has led to cancelations of off cross-strait flights, which has in turn impacted Taiwan’s restaurant and tourism industries. Restaurant owners in Miaoli say they have so far seen over 300 bookings canceled for the month of February. Local hotel operators have also reported that the number of customers has dropped by 20% to 30%.
Restaurant owners say they have sent home most of their staff and have stepped up disinfection measures in hopes of attracting customers.
