The foreign ministry has lodged a strong protest against the WHO’s repeated use of mistaken names for Taiwan.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou says that the organization has used a string of incorrect names to refer to Taiwan since January 22. These include “Taiwan, China”, “Taipei municipality”, and most recently, “Taipei and environs”.

On Thursday, Ou demanded that the global health body correct its mistake as soon as possible. Ou said that Taiwan is not part of China.

Ou also accused the WHO of bowing to pressure from China by belittling Taiwan deliberately. She called the WHO’s decision to ignore fact that Taiwan is Taiwan absurd.
