Members of the public have donated surgical masks to doctors and firefighters in Taichung, central Taiwan.
The Taichung Hospital received a few dozen masks on Tuesday from a local resident, a woman surnamed Chang. She has also left a hand-written note to encourage the medical staff who are on the front line of controlling the coronavirus outbreak.
On Monday evening, another local resident anonymously donated 400 surgical masks to the Wuqi Precinct of the city fire department.
The ongoing coronavirus outbreak has created a soaring demand that led to a shortage of surgical masks in Taiwan. The government recently put in place a rationing policy that limits each person to purchasing 2 masks every week.
