Taiwan has raised the level of its travel alerts for Hong Kong and Macau due to the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus disease Covid-19. The raised alerts come amid reports of a cluster of cases with no apparent source.
The Mainland Affairs Council, which is in charge of travel alerts for Hong Kong and Macau, has declared an “orange” level alert for both territories. This level indicates that people should avoid all unnecessary travel to Hong Kong or Macau.
The Centers for Disease Control, which evaluates health risks for travelers, is also urging people to avoid travel to the two territories. It has raised the level of its own travel alert for Hong Kong and Macau to “warning”.
