Premier Su Tseng-chang has urged the legislature to pass a special budget aimed at alleviating the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on local industries.
The legislature will open a new session on Friday. To get legislative approval, the Cabinet is planning to pass the US$2 billion budget one day ahead on Thursday.
Premier Su urged the legislature to pass the budget as soon as possible. The Premier said detailed information on the special budget and epidemic prevention measures will be available when he gives his State of the Nation address Friday.
Su also called for support from the legislative caucuses of the three major opposition parties: the Kuomintang (KMT), Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) and the New Power Party (NPP).
