President Tsai Ing-wen says she hopes that all parties in the legislature would support a special act proposed by the interior ministry to help companies in times of hardship. Tsai was pointing to businesses that are affected by the current COVID-19 outbreak.
Tsai said some companies are already suffering major financial losses because of the epidemic.
Tsai said,“I already gave directions at a high-level meeting on national security. I said we must stabilize the stock market, counsel enterprises on epidemic prevention, and provide assistance to companies already affected by the outbreak. The interior ministry is currently drafting a special bill on epidemic prevention. I hope that when it is brought before the Legislature, that everyone would cooperate together at a critical time like this to help businesses overcome hardship.”
Tsai said every enterprise’s growth contributes to Taiwan’s development. Tsai said she promises that the government will give a helping hand to every company that is going through a hard time.
