Taiwan hopes to bring 19 Taiwanese citizens back from the Diamond Princess on Friday. That was the word from foreign ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou.
The Diamond Princess had 22 Taiwanese passengers and 2 Taiwanese crew members. Five of them are confirmed cases of COVID-19 and have already been sent to the hospital for treatment. They are in stable condition.
Ou said that they hope to bring the remaining 19 back to Taiwan on Friday via a charter flight on Friday. Only those that have tested negative for COVID-19 will be able to take the flight. Ou said that they plan to have them back in Taiwan and tested for the virus by Friday night. After they arrive, they will be quarantined for another 14 days.
