“Your Face”, a 2018 experimental documentary directed by Golden Horse-winning Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang, is set to launch in cinemas in Japan.
Tsai made the announcement on his Facebook fan page. He said that the film’s Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto, played a hand in promoting his film to Japanese cinemas.
The film features 13 people who are fall framed in a typical talking-head fashion. While all of them face the camera in their respective segments, some tell their personal stories whereas others remain silent throughout the segment. Tsai said he presents the participants with deliberate lighting to showcase their facial features, and to draw the audience’s full attention.
