The foreign ministry on Wednesday warned that Taiwanese traveling to Russia should proceed with caution. The ministry said the Russian government has enacted strict measures in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The ministry said all Taiwanese or Chinese entering Russia will have their temperature taken and be asked to fill out a form on health and place of stay. The person will then be quarantined for 14 days at the place of stay or hotel.
The foreign ministry’s warning came after four Taiwanese traveling to Russia on Sunday were quarantined upon arrival. Russian authorities mistook them for Chinese. Taiwan’s foreign ministry says the four Taiwanese have been refused visits but that it is closely monitoring the situation.
The foreign ministry has announced a yellow travel advisory for Taiwanese traveling to Russia. They are urging travelers to be mindful of their safety and to reconsider their travel plans.
