Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je is helping to promote the city’s online learning platform, called Taipei CooC-Cloud. That’s in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, which prompted officials to delay the current semester and limit after-school activities and cram school classes.

Officials from the local and central governments have promoted online learning as a way for students to learn and stay in touch with their teachers.

Ko visited a local high school on Monday to promote CooC-Cloud. He said the platform has over 10,000 educational videos and 33,000 e-books, and the numbers are growing. Ko thanked the many teachers who contributed videos free of charge.

The Taipei mayor said the city government is also spending about NT$1.9 billion (US$63 million) to make sure that all students above the third grade have internet access. The goal, he said, is to make sure that every student in Taipei has equal access to online learning resources.
