European politicians and media outlets have expressed admiration for Taiwan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That was the word from Chen Yung-shao, deputy head of the foreign ministry’s Department of European Affairs, on Thursday.
As many other countries struggle to contain the disease, Taiwan has so far managed to keep the number of confirmed cases under 50.
Chen said that praise for Taiwan’s handling of the pandemic has come in from the mayor of Prague, German and Finnish lawmakers, former French health and foreign ministers, as well as envoys from European countries to Taiwan.
Chen also said that Europe’s media has covered Taiwan’s containment of the disease’s spread, with some outlets also saying that Taiwan’s exclusion from the World Health Organization unfair.
