Taiwan’s top female badminton player Tai Tzu-ying regained her title as the world’s number one in the women’s singles category on Monday. That’s after she defeated Chen Yufei from China in the Yonex All England Open in Birmingham, England. Chen held the number one position prior to the match.
Tai beat Chen in straight sets 21-19, 21-15 in a final that lasted 44 minutes.
The win secured Tai her third title at the Yonex All England Open, making her the first Taiwanese to win three. She won in 2017 and 2018 before losing to Chen in 2019.
The Yonex all England Open is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious badminton tournaments in the world.
