A total of 184 Taiwanese travelers have been stranded in Morocco and Peru after both countries closed their borders due to the new coronavirus COVID-19.
The foreign ministry said it will do its best to help the overseas travelers though all transportation has been cut off.
Morocco has suspended all flights from entering or leaving the country. The president of Peru has also closed the nation’s borders. There are currently 103 Taiwanese travelers in Morocco and 79 in Peru who cannot return home.
Asked about the situation, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said the ministry staff has made preparations to help the overseas travelers. However, he said, there is nothing else they can do at the moment since both countries have suspended all flights.
