Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says that Taiwan and the United States have agreed to work together in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
Wu said,“[Taiwan and the US] are cooperating on measures to fight against the virus, including research and development of tests for the virus, research into and production of a vaccine, technology for tracking people who have come into contact with confirmed cases, meetings with experts and scientists, and exchanges of preventative medical equipment.”
Wu says that in addition, the US has provided raw materials for the manufacture of supplies for the prevention of diseases. He says that the US has also donated 300,000 protective garments for Taiwan’s hospital workers. In exchange, Wu says that Taiwan will give the US 100,000 surgical masks every week.
