President Tsai Ing-wen is calling for unity as Taiwan fights the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
During a press conference Thursday, Tsai urged cooperation with government policies, saying that all restrictions on personal movement are only temporary measures.
The president also spoke out against finger-pointing, hoarding of supplies, and price-gouging, saying that only unity will allow Taiwan to contain the disease.
While there have been jitters following a drop in the stock market, Tsai said the fundamentals of Taiwan’s economy are good and that the country has excellent liquidity. She said that the National Stabilization Fund is closely watching fluctuations in the stock market, and that the government will boost the economy with investment and procurement projects.
