The government is set to introduce a second raft of measures aimed at stimulating the culture industry amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
On Wednesday, Culture Minister Cheng Li-chiun told lawmakers that her ministry has set aside NT$1.5 billion (US$ 50 million) to help the arts and culture sector weather the pandemic. However, she said that is far from enough.
Cheng said her office plans to unveil the second raft of measures in mid-April.
Cheng said she will do her best to secure a larger budget from the Cabinet, as Premier Su Tseng-chang has promised to inject a further NT$100 billion (US$3.3 billion) into a relief program aimed at boosting the local economy.
